About Discipleship Year
One of The Festival Center's core programs, Discipleship Year is a year-long service-learning experience that actively engages volunteers with issues of justice and social change.
DISCIPLESHIP YEAR ON HIATUS 2019-2020
After meetings with various stakeholders and much deliberation among our board and staff, The Festival Center has made the decision to put our Discipleship Year program on hiatus for the 2019-2020 program year. We will support our current volunteers through the conclusion of their program year in July, but will not be accepting any applications for new volunteers.
Taking this time off from the program will allow us the space and freedom to enter a period of intense discernment and visioning about the future of the program. We plan to raise questions that will ensure that our future program is sustainable, equitable, and responsive to the needs of our time. During this visioning process, we hope to imagine all types of program models that will help us grow stronger movements for justice in DC.
While we are not accepting applications right now, we encourage those who are interested in completing a service year to explore the programs available through our partner organizations at Catholic Volunteer Network.
VISIONING ABOUT THE FUTURE
After holding multiple visioning sessions and collecting feedback in other ways, The Festival Center is in a time of intentional discernment about our next steps in our call. The input we have received from the community is essential as we start to consider potential program models that will best support movements for justice. As we move forward in this process of discernment, we will be certain to share updates on our progress.
